Heavy Water Plant, Tuticorin, commenced production of heavy water in the year 1978. The installed capacity of the plant is 48 T/year. Heavy Water Plant was in operation upto 2007. Subsequently the plant has been suspended due to non-availability of feed gas from M/s SPIC. Preservation activities to keep the system and equipment in healthy and ready condition for commencing production of heavy water are in progress.
- Various diversification activities have been taken up with the existing infrastructure.
- Synthesising new solvents in bench scale which are required in Nuclear Fuel Cycle.
- Operation of O18 test facility for collection of data to set up pilot/industrial facility for production of O18
- Construction/Commissioning of pilot plant for synthesizing new nuclear solvents like TIAP, DHOA & D2EPHA II for collection of data in order to set up an Industrial scale plant.
