Environmental Clearances and Statutory Consent

In line with the requirements of the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification 2006 notified under the Environment (Protection) Act 1986, HWB obtains requisite Environmental Clearances from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) or State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority in accordance with the procedure laid down therein.

Following Environmental Clearances have been obtained by HWB:

Statutory Consents / Authorisations

 

  • HWB obtains prior consents from Pollution Control Boards of respective state for establishment & operation of new plants in line with the requirements of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
  • HWB also obtains authorisation for handling of hazardous wastes from Pollution Control Boards of respective state under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
  • Consents / Licenses from other statutory bodies like Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Central /State Ground Water Authority (CGWD or SGWD), Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), Boiler Inspectorate/Directorate etc. are obtained as per requirement.

HWPs have their Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to minimise the environmental impact of the industrial activities. Ambient air quality (AAQ) monitoring, conditioning of flue gas, effluent analysis & treatment, and waste management are being done as per the statutory requirements and conditions of the consents and authorisations granted. Environment Statement of each plant is being submitted to MoEF&CC annually.
