Duties of HWP (Manuguru)

    A. Environmental Aspects

    Environmental Protection is given utmost importance in this plant and for this very reason, lot of engineered safety features, pollution monitoring equipment and control check points have been provided as a part of normal plant operation. Plants effluents are discharged only after adequate treatment. A.P. Pollution Control Board monitors these discharges at regular intervals within the plant premises and outside the plant, ensuring that the effluent quality is well within the specified limits. The H2S concentration in air and liquid discharges from the plant is monitored continuously with the help of online instruments in the plant. ambient air quality in the surroundings areas is regularly monitored as per the guidelines issued by the A.P. Pollution Control Board.

    B. Emergency Preparedness and Public Awareness

    In order to deal effectively with any remote possibility of any H2S leakage in the plant area and unlikely chances of its excursion beyond the plant premises, emergency preparedness plants have been formulated, documented and approved by State Authorities and rehearsed on regular basis by all concerned.

    With a view to develop the sense of awareness with regard to the hazards associated with this plant and the Emergency Procedures amongst the local people including contract and casual labours, HWP (M) is successfully and effectively conduction Public Awareness Programmes which include mass education conducting seminars on regular basic etc. special emphasis is given on education of teachers and students who are good receptors and effective propagators.
